Sales were up however, by 5% to $89 million, though this is due to players in the east, as European and North American sales were down by half.

NCsoft blames declining sales of titles such as City of Heroes, City of Villains and Guild Wars, all of which saw sales drops of over 50 per cent.

Let us wonder why?
Safe to say the large dissapointment in Guild Wars: Factions, prolly

Sorrry AMP, fixed the link =)

You didn't read very well..

Thats Q1 Results - Q1 ends on March31st - a month before Factions was even released.

Of Course Guild Wars ch1 sales are going to be down so close to Factions release....

So Its "Safe To Say" you were just wanting a convenient excuse to moan about Factions.

Also remeber the single slots coming out in the summer. A single slot code can be printed on card stock with a seal or wax covering for pennies a piece.

If you look at the 5/08 Gaile Gray [chatlog] on Dev Tracker i have come to the conclusion that Factions is broken because, in my opinion, NcSoft pushed the grinding mechanism to appeal asian markets, where GW is not a big seller as L2, clearly a grind game.

Think of it as a movie:

GW is the movie/secuels
ANet is the director
NcSoft is the producer

ANET: I am the director, i have this "vision" i would like to share with you about my ideal movie.
NCSOFT: I am the producer, and i wont give you money if you dont put some asian actors on this film. Our sales are big in Asia, so i will only give you money for this movie if you make me earn money with it on Asia. Put Asian actors, asian landscapes and movie content asian people enjoy (aka grinding) or you wont get a dime for your "vision".
ANET: -.-

L2 is a montly subscription so of course its going to make more money. GW on makes money on sales. These games are 2 totally different catagories of income.

GW made more than some movies do so that's not bad at all.

The main issue is not the pricing scheme of these games, but if Anet plans to release content based on corporate concerns rather than "vision".

Of course, i am not naive and i do know that ANet and NcSoft are companies and they need to make money from what they produce.

The issue, i believe, is the possibly growing disregard of the vision for the sake of the earnings... and i believe that's everyones concern.
